Privacy Policy
Synapsdex is a Chrome extension that helps you write replies, posts and hooks on X (Twitter). This policy explains, in plain terms, what the extension stores, where data goes, and what we do not collect.
The short version
We do not run a server that collects your data. Your settings and everything the extension learns about your writing are stored locally in your own browser. When you generate text, the request goes only to the AI provider you chose — not to us.
What is stored, and where
- On your device (your browser's local storage): your settings, personas, custom archetypes and actions, your API key if you add one, and the writing patterns the optional learning feature picks up. This never leaves your browser unless you export it yourself.
- Sent to your chosen AI provider: when you generate a draft in API mode, the text of the prompt (the post you're replying to and your instructions) is sent directly to the provider you selected (for example OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI), using your own API key. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.
- No-key mode: if you use the built-in no-key mode, the extension works through X's own on-page Grok feature; that interaction is governed by X's terms and privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not connect to the X API and do not automate your account.
- We do not collect, sell or transfer your personal data to third parties.
- We do not track your browsing, and we do not run analytics or advertising trackers inside the extension.
- We never receive your API key, your drafts, or the content of your posts.
Configuration updates
The extension periodically fetches a small public configuration file (ranking rules and occasional announcements) so it can stay current. This is a one-way download of public data. No personal information is sent in the process.
Payments and licensing
If you purchase a license, payment is handled by Gumroad, our payment provider. We never see your card details. License validation checks your key against Gumroad; only the key and activation status are exchanged.
Permissions
The extension requests only the browser permissions it needs to function — to run on X, store your settings locally, contact the AI provider you chose, fetch the public configuration file, and (optionally, with your consent) read a web page whose link you paste in yourself to give the AI more context. It does not access your data on other sites unless you explicitly provide a link.
Children
Synapsdex is not directed at children and is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest version.
